me working on my project
This is a photo of me working on this project in the studio! I was drawing my fine liner drawing of the alien out of Paul the movie.
Paul the alien
Fine liner drawing of an alien
This is the drawing on my scrap book cover, which is drawn using fine liner pens! I started of by sketching the alien out in pencil and then going over the pencil in fine liner. I really like the simplicity of the drawing and how I captured small details using scribbles, this gives the drawing more emotion and detail without it looking to much.Scrap book cover
This is the front cover of my scrap book for this project! I found some paper plates which were covered in a shiny, silver type of thin foil! I then decided to peel the silver finish off and cut it into random sized pieces, and glue them down using Prit stick glue! The reason I used this material for the front cover was it reminded me of a spaceship and looked almost enchanting which fitted in with the mysterious alien theories... To give it a finished look I did a simple drawing of a alien using fine liners and used lines and scribbles to add slight detail and depth.

Predator drawings

The first two images are my original pencil drawing of the Predator alien. I decided to do just a plane pencil drawing , because I thought it would look most effective and I was able to get all the different shades and strengths through the varied leads. I really like the detail I've captured in the face area and the patterns I drew on the dreadlock type hair! The third image is a photocopy of my original drawing but manipulated on the printer to give a pinkish red colour.
Hans Rudolf Giger
H.R Giger was a surrealist painter, sculptor and set designer from Switzerland. He was in a special effects team which won a academy award for best achievement in visual effects for their design work on the Alien film. H.R Gigers style of work was quite freaky and slightly scary!

Alien face hugger...
The Alien movies have a few different types of aliens in them, apart from the most well know one there are ones referred to as face huggers. This aliens purpose is to inject embryos(eggs) into a human to keep the cycle going! They do this by almost hugging a persons face wrapping it legs around the head and tail around the individuals neck and begins planting the eggs down the throat, it then detaches and crawls away and dies. This leaves the person in a seriously bad way because they have a alien growing in there stomach which has to literally explodes for the alien to come out of the stomach.

Alien/Xenomorph drawing
These are some photos of a drawing I did of the Xenomorph which is the alien in the Alien movies and books! I found the image online on Google images and really liked the detail in the image and found it was one of the best photos of the alien.
For my final piece in this project I am thinking of doing quite a large scale pencil drawing of a alien similar to this drawing I did.
| I drew this using artist pencils and changed the pencil strength to add depth and detail. |

Aliens in movies
Aliens have become some what of an essential part of a good fantasy movie! There have been many movies which are based on creatures and things from other worlds or planets, there also have been many different storylines and ways of portraying these beings! I have tried to pick a few of the most recognisable ones ie: E.T,predator, Alien and Avatar! These movies differ quite a lot from each other. E.T is a children's twist on a alien fantasy film, with the alien being friendly and if I must say cute. E.T gets lost when a space ship leaves him and he basically needs help on returning to his home but a young boy connects with the alien and becomes good friends. Now let's look at the Predator and Alien movies. These are quite gory and aimed more at teens and adults. These movies consist of a lot of violence, blood and occasionally sex! In the movie "Alien vs Predator" these two creatures basically try to annihilate each other throughout, in the end Predator comes out on top managing to defeat its enemy! Finally Avatar is very unique and different from any other movie to do with other worlds, the movie is about a place called Pandora which is a parallel world where animals and plants have evolved! There are human like beings in the movie which are the actual Avatars who accept a man who gets turned into one and falls in love with a female Avatar. But all goes wrong when humans interfere with Pandora and cause havoc and wreck there sacred land, this then leads to a huge battle between the humans and Avatars! I'd say this movie has a more broader audience being aimed at family's, children and teens! I believe the reason behind all these very different stories are because no one actually know what else is out there and if there is a larger threat than us humans...

Alien sea of sorrows
My latest project is called "don't judge a book by its cover", we had to go to Beeston library and pick out a book which inspired us or which we liked the look or sound of. The reason i chose to do this book is because the front cover really stood out to me, and i wanted to do something sci-fi or fantasy! I also will be able to do some really detailed drawings of the aliens for this project.
